Last weekend, John helped my friend, Rebecca move some of her stuff into her new apartment. I didn't really help but did keep them company while I tried to write a blog entry for the Women's Blog. By the time, we were both done, we were 3o minutes late for our Bradley course.

Anyway, the next couple of weeks, John and I will be packing and moving units. This is sort of last minute but much anticipated. We love our apartment but have three smokers in three different apartments beneath us who take turn smoking from 6:30 a.m. to about 11:00 p.m. every day. There is not real break from the smoke that comes in through our bedroom, dining room and living room windows. In the winter, the smoke comes in through our bathroom vents and makes our mater bedroom smell like a smoking hotel room. It became a real big issue when I realized that our child will be sleeping in our room for the first few months and the room's windows have to be opened once a day to cool the room down (we have two computers and one server that heats the room). We've been trying to work with property management company for some time on this. They finally agree to one of our proposals. As a result, we are moving to a ground floor, three bedroom apartment in two weeks.

I am thrilled be moving. We are moving to a three bedroom apartment because it is just a huge answer to prayers. First and foremost, we finally get away from the smoke. Secondly, we get to have a dedicated nursery for the baby. And lastly, we get to have our office back and continue to use it as a guest room when people visit us...which is going to be more frequent now that Baby is on his/her way.

So we have a busy next two weeks ahead of us. We will have everything packed up by Wednesday, November 4. Next, we are running to Portland/Eugene for my last work trip before Baby is born and for John's grandma's 80th birthday celebration. We'll be back on Sunday afternoon in time for our Bradley class. The following day, John will be working with local movers to move us into our new apartment. The next couple of weeks will be busy but a lot of fun.

Anyway, other than moving, other things have been occurring in our lives. First, John had another interview this last week. It was an initial phone interview but it ended with John being of 1 of 2 people who will be brought in for an in-person interview. This job sounds wonderful and like it would be a great fit for John's skill. John also found that the place that he interviewed with a few years ago posted a position that he is extremely qualified for. It also works for one of the individuals that he interviewed with. When John interviewed, he interviewed with no one he'd be working for. It was slightly strange but did leave John feeling like this was a great people to work with and a good hospital to work for. This new position's hiring manger was impressed by John. I would be extremely be surprised if he doesn't get called for an interview. :) Either way, we are very thankful that there are these positions opening and that employers are starting to take notice of John.

As far as the baby, I think I shared that the baby was in a breech position last time we looked (and I felt). In the last week, I am sure that Baby has moved into the head down position. I am also sure that this baby is growing. When I wake up in the morning, the baby is one side or the other (depends on the side I sleep on). My stomach looks extremely asymmetrical. :) I haven't felt the head recently but in the morning I can feel/see the torso and it extends from just below my ribcage until it disappears below my belly button. It's been fun.

A few nights ago, after laying down for a bit, I rolled over and notice the baby again. I told John to come say something to Baby. He started talking over the baby's head area and a second later, a foot kicked out by my ribcage. John missed it, so I had him to it again. When he did, the baby's foot kicked out in the same place again. It was hilarious. The baby has been very active. In fact, earlier this week, the baby had hiccups twice in one day. It is a very strange feeling. I'll have to describe it like an involuntary frequent body tick. They say that baby hiccups come from babies who are practicing breathing. It was fun to picture the baby breathing.

Well, I should be signing off. I should be able to write next weekend. Until then, hope all is well in your lives.

One Day Late & Sundays

Okay, so I'm one day late in my blog post. I promise for good reason. I spent yesterday relaxing, working a little and spending quality time with my husband. Our Sundays recently have become obsolete for anything other than church, grocery shopping and Bradley classes.

There's something about Sundays and especially Sunday evenings. I really want Sundays to be a day of rest and relaxation and time for relationships. Last Sunday, I was experienced a lot of stress. I realized we had nine weeks, had many things to do, and I am tired and pain during the week. How was I going to do everything? Not to mention that we are dealing with our Property Management company and might need to move before the baby comes.

This Sunday was completely different. I needed to work some to finish preparation for Oregon PHS Open Enrollment. With that, I wanted to let something go. We skipped the Bradley class and had done our grocery shopping on Friday. With that we went to church and our Sunday class and enjoyed what we experienced. We came home and made lunch and ate together. I took a nap and John joined me (he can't resist sleeping Melissa or kitties). I finished my work quickly while John finished up scanning photos for his grandma's 80th birthday celebration. After all that, we went for a walk, went to Quiznos for dinner and finished the evening watching a movie. I know this may not seem like an exciting or good day but I thoroughly enjoyed it. John did, too. I think that I will work to finish tasks during the weeks and leave Sundays for just that church and rest. We'll continue our Bradley courses but will be done with those in a few weeks.

Anyway, my massive to-do list is looking better. Partly because I actually wrote it all down instead of trying to juggle it in my head and partly because John has been great and helped take some small things. Have I mentioned that I have suffered from Pregnancy Brain a lot this pregnancy? Maybe you've never heard of it, but it does exist and causes women to become forgetful, misplace items...essentially becomes scatter brained. Need an example? Last week, I was packing up for our trip to Portland. John had pulled out two packages of Sudafed PE and had left them out. I picked them up to put them away and then went to get his socks from our closet. Later, John found the two packages in his sock area. Need I say more?

John Employment Update: John has an interview this Wednesday. Please pray that this opportunity will turn out to what God has in store for John and that his interview goes well.

Okay, I know that I promised a baby ultrasound update this week. I did have an ultrasound last week. We saw hair and the baby breathing. It was pretty cool. The baby is doing well and is currently sitting in a Frank breech presentation. Translation: Baby is enjoying sitting sideways in Mommy. The baby's sitting in a v shape in me. I still don't look very pregnant and this is because baby is sitting sideways. :) We did get some good profile pictures. I'm uploading the one I like the most. I'm going to sign off for this week. Enjoy...

Fast Week

This week has flown by. I shouldn't be surprised. I had three appointments this week, two and a half days of training at work, celebrating John's birthday and trying to crack down and get to work on my to-do list.

I did have some excitement this week. The first is something that has carried me through this last week and hopefully a little longer. To be honest, I have been lonely the last couple of months and it was really starting to drag on me recently. I had an epiphany last Sunday and started to once again turn my focus off me and back on God and my relationship and response to who He is in my life. In His graciousness and loving kindness, He responded to my need for connection in at least eight different circumstances on Monday. It was done in such a manner that it left no doubt that God was responding to me and my recent struggle. It left me soaring...In fact, I'm going to be writing about this situation and God's response in a blog posting for Women, Awake!, Northshore Baptist Women's Ministry blog. If you want to hear more about it, start reading this blog and look for my "Being Known" post in a couple of weeks.

Writing for this blog has been great for me. It has me trying to listen more for how God is speaking to me and in my life. It focuses me; it makes me be more reflective and assists me in writing about whatever in a manner to share with others. I would highly encourage you to bookmark this blog and read it. I'll put a link to it on under the blogs I follow. There are four other women writing as well and I am excited to read their entries as well. There will be three posts a week and I think my first three-part entry is scheduled for this next week.

Anyway, back to my week...as I was saying things have moved quickly. I had another prenatal appointment this week. Baby is growing and his/her heartbeat is strong. I'm still not gaining anything but am noticing that I am starting to show occasionally. As I was telling John last night, some days I show and some days I don't. It all depends on where Baby decides to sit that day. :)

It was fun on Tuesday to wake up at 5 a.m. and literally feel my baby's head right under the left portion of my rib cage. It was distinctly round, slightly large (about the size of a large orange) and semi hard. As I was drifting back to sleep, I felt the baby do something like a somersault. When I woke up for good an hour later, I felt the baby's head directly opposite of the previous position and towards my right hip. The baby's feet were tucked together again and could be felt slight above and to the left of my belly button. I think this child had a lot of room to move still. This should be changing soon...I am getting more and more excited to meet our baby. It'll be fun to actually get to see those cute feet and look into the face of the head I get to feel every once in awhile.

John is doing well considering he's still dealing with unemployment. His spirits are still good (as are mine). We honestly don't know when or where his opportunity will come from. We, of course, would like to know but are still trusting that God will provide for all of needs (especially with Baby coming) in His way and in His timing. In the meantime, I did ask John if he missed working other than for the reasons of stability and receiving a paycheck. He answered honestly no because he is filling his day with other activities that keep him busy (job searching, researching training, planning out new network or resume strategies, etc.).

One thing I've noticed is he's started to make an effort to help around the house. Part of this is due to my increasing tiredness and pain and part because he has the energy to do so and wants to help. He has been helping out with dinner or handling it all himself. It's been a lot of fun making dinner with him. I've been experiencing a lot of pleasure in talking while we do this and then sitting down at the table together to eat. I hope this is something that continues and we make a habit of eating dinner together at the table (versus on the run or on the couch). It's something I would definitely like our children to experience.

As I mentioned above, I am becoming increasingly tired and still dealing with my arthritis pain. I am praying for some relief from this as we have a lot to do and I need to be able to do some exercises that will help me prepare for the upcoming labor and delivery...ack...just realized we are down to approx 9 weeks! :)

Speaking of time, I should probably go. I do have a rather long to-do list and we are traveling to Portland this week (always disrupts the flow of our week). I need to write my sister's adoption reference letter for the Ethiopia dossier package and finish writing my next patch of blog entries for the Women, Awake! blog before our Bradley class tonight. There are a couple of more things starting to occur in our lives but are still in the middle of being played out. I'll have more next week on these. :) I want to keep you hanging and coming back for more. I will tell you that we have another growth ultrasound on Friday so the next blog entry here will have a new baby weight update and likely picture...

Time Slipping Away...

As I write, I am coming up on my 30th week of pregnancy. For those, who can't do "Mad-Minute" math in lightening speed (I hated Mad Minutes in school), that means we have approx 10 weeks before baby is here. This is not very long...it's essentially 2.5 months. I am starting to get a little panicked with what we have do between now and then but also incredibly excited. I am still not really showing. I have resigned myself that I am not going to be your typical pregnant woman and people will very likely be surprised when I show up with a little one. I am starting to be okay with this.

Only frustrating issue is that clothes don't really fit. Maternity clothes are too big and loose and my pre-maternity don't fit or look weird. I have one pair of pants (see above) that either don't feel like they are going to fall down at any moment or need to be pulled up every two minutes. :) I'm not exaggerating. Even my stretchy exercise pants are getting too tight around the waist.... I also only have about three shirts (two t-shirts and one work sweater) I feel comfortable in. The baby is starting to move (or grow) up higher so I am starting to feel some discomfort after eating.

Despite ill fitting clothes and nobody realizing I am pregnant, I am still very thankful to be pregnant and love feeling the baby move. The baby is getting big enough to see the body profile (baby likes to lay sideways sometimes, it looks funny) and big enough for me to feel the baby's head & feet. John thinks I'm poking the baby but I am not. I like to think I am tickling baby's feet.

In fact, a few weeks ago, our doctor ordered a growth ultrasound to make sure that the baby was growing on track (due to the fact that I have gained zero pounds this pregnancy and am actually eight pounds lighter than when I first found out I was pregnant). When we went in for the ultrasound, the baby was laying sideways right below my belly button. His/her feet were stuck together pushing up past my belly button on my left side. It was so cute to see two little feet tucked together...

For those of you who are wondering, the baby is growing just fine. In fact, the baby was estimated to be 2 lbs and 10 oz, at that point in time, when most books said the baby is suppose to be just hitting 2 lbs. At the ultrasound, the baby was in the 74th quartile, up from the 60th at our 20 week ultrasound. So this should put anyone who is worried about my lack of weight gain and/or showing at ease, this baby is growing and getting everything I am eating and will likely be a larger baby. I think this latter has more to do with genetics as John and I are not small people. So much for wishing for a 7.5 lb baby...:)

Anyway, we haven't done much in way of baby the last couple of weeks but before Labor Day we did a mad dash to convert our former office into a nursery/guest room. This mad dash was due in part to John going in for a medical procedure that would take him out of major lifting commission for a couple of weeks and the fact that we had a full size crib in our living room. I know that a few of you have been wondering what our nursery looks like and/or how it's progressing. I can't show you actual pictures of everything but I can show you pictures of the pieces we currently have. Here it goes...

We have a matching crib and changing table set (not purchased together) due to awesome bargains off of Craig's List (CL). The changing table has the exact wicker basket and liners (except blue gingham, not green) you see in the picture. They are huge and will work perfectly for clothes and blankets.

This is our nursery bedding set...also courtesy of a few CL bargains. Note these pictures are other people's pictures but show the bedding components well.

I actually saw this set years ago. I knew I wanted to use it for our first kid. Unfortunately, they discontinued it a few years ago. Fortunately, I found a women who had the primary bedding set (bumper, skirt, sheet, quilt and curtain) plus a few extras for a real bargain. After that I found a few more sellers that sold me some pieces like the wood lamp & lamp shade, rug, and walled art pieces (copies of the patch work squares).

The only thing that I have done in the last couple of weeks is buy a couple of outfits to bring the baby home in. Let's just say that after this activity, I keep referring to 'babies' and not 'baby'. It's kind of sad because it is the one time I wish I was having twins, a boy or a girl. I love what I picked out and it will make me sad that one of them is not being used. Trust me I know this is weird...being sad about not having two babies to be able to use both outfits but it is what it is...

These photos also remind me that we will only bring home with a little boy or a little girl. When I think about it, there is a slight sadness to these thoughts because I have dreams (years worth) of both scenarios and it means that one of those isn't going to happen. We have names and outfits for both and one set of those will have to wait again for sometime in the unclear future. :)

Anyway, I need to wrap this up. John and I need to go to our weekly Bradley course. Yes, as some of you may know, that means we are doing everything we can to ensure that this birth is done naturally and without medical interventions or pain medication. Don't laugh. I think I can do this.

I do need to go but have decided to put aside an hour every Sunday to write on this blog. Check back next week for the latest and greatest. If not there is not much to tell, I'll write about an awesome book I just read.

Late Update Portion

So this will be my last post that will cover from the point we returned to Alaska until now. It'll be nice to know I'm caught up and only have to worry about staying current (once every couple of weeks). :)

Thursday: Day of News & Appointments
Anyway, we returned from Alaska on Wednesday night and had several appointments the next morning including our mid-pregnancy ultrasound.

As most of you know, John and I are waiting until the baby is born to find out what it is. Luckily, we only had to turn away once during the ultrasound (while the femur was being measured). Just to clear the air, nobody but the ultrasound technician knows what our baby is! She didn't even put it in her report so our OB doesn't know either.

Our baby's heart beat is strong as usual and everything looked great. They check brain, neck/spine, heart and take lots of measurements. In fact, the technician said our baby was measuring a full week ahead a time. I am pretty sure that our due date of Dec 8 is pretty accurate (and our OB concurred) so it means that we are likely having a larger baby. That doesn't surprise me given what I know about John and I. I expect that we will have a long baby. :)

During that ultrasound, I felt the baby move for the first time. I felt two little movements and then had the technican tell me that the baby had hiccups. :) It was cool and the baby pretty much started moving regularly from that point forward (several times a day).

The next appointment we had that day was with my rheumatologist. I think most of you know that I suffer from an autoimmune arthritis that in the past has made my life a lot of fun. Luckily, I've had it under control for the past few years and my pregnancy was suppose to stay in remission for the length of my pregnancy. Unfortunately, I'm part of the 20% that this doesn't happen with so I've been dealing with with some flare-ups the last couple of months. This last month has been the worst of it. Luckily, I'm back on my meds and it's slowing going back to normal. Just giving me a taste of the need to slow down...

Lastly, and also before lunch, John found out he passed his CISSP exam. I knew he would. I am very proud of him and I know how hard he worked/studied for that exam.

Since then...
Since that Thursday, John has continued his job search and has definitely noticed an increase in the number of IT jobs he is qualified for and interested in! Please pray that God will open one of these doors soon. It's been nice to see him excited about the possibilites and somewhat contagious. Who knows where he'll end up.

As I mentioned above, Baby started moving regularly and noticably from about 20 weeks until a week ago. It got to the point that I actually saw the baby move under my skin. It was a little crazy to see it out of the corner of my eye and then actually watch my skin move on it's own. John got to see it, too. In fact, last weekend, I told John to say "Hi" to the baby and see if Baby would jump. He didn't think anything would happen...but lo and behold, he said "hi" and a split second later, the baby kicked in that vacinity. John's been able to do that a few more times with similar results.

In the past week, the movements have become less noticable but I am also noticing that my stomach is getting higher. I read that the decreased movement is likely due to the fact that the baby is kicking higher and therefore less noticeable (more to cushion) or the baby is kicking in the other direction. I do want to say that I am still feeling movement. The other day, I was driving home from work and started singing a really great song. As soon as I started, Baby started moving/kicking too. It almost made me cry (yes, I've been a little hormonal this week).

John and I are still working on cleaning our own clutter and our office. It helps that my arthritis is starting to feel better and I can move easier and pain-free. It's still slow but we are making progress. Luckily, we've cleaned out enough to set up the changing table I found on Craigslist last week. That was exciting. We finally have somewhere to put some of the baby stuff we are accumulating until we get the nursery set-up.

We're trying to get this project wrapped up by Labor Day weekend so we aren't having to try to deal with it the last few months of my pregnancy and when work and normal activities start to pick back up. So at the end of the month, our office will be cleared out, our bedroom will house a single desk and our nursery/guest bedroom will house a guest bed, changing table, and baby storage set-ups. We'll just be missing the crib and some other odds and ends.

Before we know it,it'll be December. Other than that, we are just trying to make sure that we take it one day at a time and not look too far forward or too far back. I'll write more in a few weeks.

Last Month & a Half Catch-up Cont'd

So, it's been more than a few days. Work's been pretty busy, had thank you notes to send out and haven't been sleeping well at night. Got to love nighttime leg cramps. :) I believe this is another pregnancy symptom.

Anyway, after we got back from San Diego, we headed up to Alaska three days later. We were going up to celebrate my grandma's 80th birthday. My grandpa turned 80 last year and we made the same trip to celebrate his 80th as well. In fact, in November, we'll be traveling to Eugene, Oregon for John's grandma's 80th birthday. Anyway, back to our trip.

We flew up to Anchorage on Thursday evening...late. We typically stay with Maria (my younger sister) and Josh and I love it because we get to see the boys and it was fun to have Mateo come find us Friday morning. Maria had us all up very early to travel to Sterling (Kenai Peninsula). It only takes 2.5 hours but Maria and Josh were going to go fishing with my uncle as soon as they got there. Thankfully, it was a beautiful sunny drive down and we got to enjoy the sunshine for two days while we were in Alaska. Unfortunately, it seems that when we visit in the summer it always rains for us and typically stops for a half a day the day we are leaving.

Anyway, it was great to see my grandparents and Mom and Mindy (my littlest sister). Friday afternoon we spent some time with Grandpa, Mindy and a old friend of my uncle's. We went down to where Maria, Josh and Uncle Rich were fishing. Unfortunately, we didn't see them and got an earful of some horrible live music. It is funny when I think about it. Anyway, the rest of the day was very relaxing.

Me & My Grandpa

Mindy & Me

Noah being silly and very cute!

Noah, a very willing participant in Aunt Mindy feeding him!

Noah giving the camera the stink eye (not really but a very funny picture)!

The next day was Grandma's celebration but there wasn't a lot of stuff to get ready. Saturday's event was perfect and we got to visit with more family (one more uncle and aunt, cousins, old family friend of my mom). I had some tasty fresh grilled salmon. It's one of the few things I miss about Alaska...free access to the plentiful seafood, especially salmon. I'm posting some pictures from the day that will better illustrate our trip to my grandparents. I always enjoy staying and visiting with them. I feel very fortunate to have two such wonderful grandparents.

Mateo following Great-Grandpa

Grandma playing Chicken Croquet (seriously...)

Great-Grandma (and Great-Grandpa in the corner) spending time with great-grandkids!

Birthday Girl!

My cutie husband! I love it when he really smiles for the camera! He is still without a job but we are still enjoying the benefits of unemployment. John really is less stressed. I can honestly say that I don't remember a time in our relationship where he was more relaxed. He's noticed it as well.

In addition to that, God prompted us to start cleaning up our finances and paying down debt a couple of years ago. So this interruption in pay hasn't been as painful as it would have been if we hadn't listened. Every time, I sit down to pay the bills I am continually amazed and grateful for His provision and perfect timing in prompting us. By the way, I am spending much less time paying bills which is a great feeling.

Anyway, slightly off track...John's taken this time off to study for a professional certification he's been talking about for years. He started studying for his Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) about two weeks after he was laid off. He studied a lot and worked hard. The exam in Seattle was full so we looked for somewhere close to travel to and take it. San Diego on July 13 was the closest and soonest he could find.

So we decided to make it a long weekend and both travel there. We like the San Diego area but neither of us had gone to California to just visit San Diego. Let's just say it was a blast. We arrived on Friday morning and John's exam wasn't until Monday morning. So we explored...I realized something about the two of us that trip. We are not really the "go-and-sit-on-a-beach-and-veg-out" type traveler. We like to explore especially areas we haven't been to much.

The first day we went to the San Diego Wild Animal Park (sister to the Zoo). It was in the low 90s and very sunny. We went up to a large outlet mall in Carlsbad and I got to do some maternity clothes shopping while I was there. We turned around slowly and let's just say the beaches were full the entire way back to San Diego. It was fun to walk around the resort and learn about it's history. It was another beautiful day and lots of people were on the beaches. We walked around town looking at shops and eating some ice cream to cool off before we headed back to the hotel. We finished the day back at the hotel with me taking a nap and John studying.

The next day wasn't so exciting. I realized something else...if I am having fun on a trip, I don't miss home. I didn't miss home until Monday, the day we were coming home. Let's just say I was thrilled to be at home by the time hit my pillow on Monday night at 11:30 p.m.

And we had another trip in less than three days...

Peacefully Waiting...

Well, the last couple of months have been eventful on a macro level, but yet strangely slow on a micro level. As most of you know, I typically keep myself pretty busy. But with the end of bible study, the news of Baby and making a personal decision to put off finishing the women's ministries program, work slowing down, and John being around more to do some of the tasks, I find myself strangely will little to do right now. Most people would be thrilled but to be honest, I don't know what to do with myself. :)

As most people know by now, John was laid off at the end of April...just 4 weeks after we found out I was pregnant. This has honestly been an interesting turn of events. First off, before we knew for sure, I prayed that He would give us peace regardless of the outcome. I would have to say that that prayer has been answered. There have been a few moments of "what now?" and "what drastic actions do we need to do?" But for the majority, we are doing just great and confident that God has a new job for John in the near future that will allow John to continue to provide for our family.

So other than pregnancy and John's recent change in unemployment, there isn't much going on. We slowly trying to de-clutter our lives, especially in the office. We have literally been carrying around numerous boxes of paper for the last 5+ years. We are going through the boxes and it's kind of funny and sad how long we held on to some of this stuff. Most is being recycled or shredded. I have found some photos, documents from our wedding and cards. That part has been fun.

I'm also trying to reconnect/stay in touch with friends and family. I enjoy my friends and family immensely. I just need to be more consistent in not letting too much time pass. Luckily, most of them are gracious.

Well, I guess that's about it. I'll sign off for now and will write more in a few weeks.

My New Hymn of Praise

I don't know if all of you are aware but John and I have been trying to start a family now for almost two years now. We hit a big snag last summer when John needed surgery and it inadvertently had devastating effects on our efforts. We were told that it would be near impossible to have biological children without IVF & ICSI (a special add on procedure).

We receive our second specialist opinion stating the same in February of this year. While that was hard news for both of us, we knew that adoption was another way we could start our family. So we started investigating that in late January and by the end of February knew that we would likely need to wait a year before attempting. At this point, I was devastated and wondering when...how much longer?

So if you don't want a lot of detail, skip this next paragraph and continue reading. During this time,

John was seeing an acupuncturist and asked if I would see her too for fertility treatment. While I didn't think this would do anything, it didn't hurt anything and John was asking me to do this with him. So in early March, I started to see her. About it's March 31st and I am expecting normal events and am typically right on schedule. I was doing a Psalms study that week on God's provisions of needs, wants and desire. That night I had just finished doing my daily lesson and thinking about my desire for children, I had to go to the bathroom.

So on March 31, I am normally on time but I was a little late (12-24 hours) and had two pregnancy tests that were going to expire. So without telling John, I grabbed one and ran into the bathroom. Let's just say that once I took the test, the pregnancy positive line showed up faster than the base line. I was shocked but knew what it meant. I thanked God right then and there in my bathroom before running out to show my shocked husband. After I told him twice and showed him the test, I just started to cry. We couldn't believe we were pregnant! I had a hard time sleeping that night. The next day I was changing my daily Psalms calendar when I noticed my verse for March 31. I want to share it with you.

He has given me a new song to sing, a hymn of praise to our God. Many will see what he has done and be astounded. They will put their trust in the Lord~ Psalm 40:3 NLT

God has given me a new song of praise for Him. He has given us a child in an awesome way! We were statically unable to conceive but God in His Glory allowed us to conceive. I am 8 weeks pregnant and the baby is healthy and everything looks great! I just want everyone to know that my God is an awesome God who, while powerfully deals with the big stuff, is a loving God, who deals with the intimate details (needs, circumstances, etc.) of our lives. John and I are giving Him the full credit and glory for this child.

I am including a few ultrasound pictures...not much to see but a healthy heartbeat, a roundish thing which is the head and a good size area for this stage. :) By the way, John is very excited. He'll be a great dad!

Leave a comment if you feel like it! If you happen to stumble upon this, you are welcome to call or leave a post but don't tell anyone else yet. WE are pregnant!

God has answered our prayers and given me the desire of my heart! He is good and yes, this is a miracle! We should not be pregnant! I have taken two pregnancy tests (from two different boxes and at two different times) and both have two solid pink lines. I am 4 almost 5 weeks pregnant!

Our due date for those who can't read that small is December 8, 2009 (new date shown-officially changed as of April 28). Last Christmas I told John that as much as I loved it just being the two of us, I really didn't want to spend another Christmas with it just being the two of us. We will have a little one in time for Christmas! Isn't God's timing perfect? I could tell you my journey and how many more ways His timing is perfect! I probably will over the next few months!

If you are wondering how God did this, well, other than a lot of prayer, John has been seeing Dr. Wu for a few months specifically for our infertility and has been taking some yucky herbs daily ever since. I just started seeing her, as well, three weeks ago (before I ovulated). I last saw her on Tuesday and I am pretty sure she suspected. She asked me some weird questions, said something about women sometimes getting pregnant after only 1 or 3 treatments, and put more needles in me this time! My total treatments so far is 5! :) Our first OB\GYN visit\ultrasound will be April 28! Maybe it will seem be more real by then.

Despite that, it has been killing me not to get on the phone to everyone I know and let them know of this miracle. John is cautiously optimistic and just as surprised. I just came out of the bathroom last night shocked and told/showed him and started crying in his arms. I was so keyed up I had hard a very hard time falling asleep. And as far as today, I can't seem to stop smiling.

P.S. This is NOT an April Fool's joke!

<link rel='alternate' type='text/html' href='http://thetwitchellzoo.blogspot.com/2009/04/wowwhat-surprise-what-blessing.html' title='Wow...What a Surprise! I do love reading people's blogs...I just don't every feel like I have anything exciting to share. Deep, heavy stuff like life, my purpose in life, my relationship with God, my marriage to fun and light stuff like our future children, diets/exercise, books, movies, winning the lottery and becoming the world's newest philanthropist. So I expect until we have kids, my blog will be a hodge podge of topics. If someone reads them, great. If not, well, I have a online diary! :) I don't even know if anyone knows about this blog.

I will try to stay current and punch it with photos as I can. A few years ago, John and I had six cats and a dog and future plans for kids. Unfornately, we lost some of our furry friends since then and now just have two kitties, Boo and Samantha (Sam). We're trying to increase our numbers again with non-furry members first, so took this blog's name...

It has always been my dream to have a household of kids and pets!
